It was originally called &#8220;The Strand&#8221; when built around 1926, and went through periods showing mainstream, art house and adult films. It ceased operations sometime in the 1970&#8217;s. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sbct.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">South Bend Civic Theater Group<\/a> flirted with the Avon before settling on the Scottish Rite Building a few blocks to the North.
