South Bend has several active CDCs including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nearnorthwest.org\/\">Near Northwest Neighborhood Organization<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.southbendin.gov\/living\/community_development\/housing_development_corp.asp\">Housing Development Corporation<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sbheritage.org\/\">South Bend Heritage Foundation<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These groups manage affordable rental units, publish neighborhood newsletters and work on special projects such as the adaptation of the former <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.realst8.com\/staging\/9756\/?p=72\">South Bend Natatorium<\/a> into a Civil Rights Museum.<\/p>\n<p>They also support programs to help residents become homeowners. One group buys, renovates and sells homes at low cost to people who agree to live in the house for a period of years.
