His gang killed a police officer, wounded four citizens, and left with about $30,000. Dillinger was killed in Chicago less than a month later, but the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/cinematreasures.org\/theater\/2667\/\">State Theater<\/a> remains and is now ready for its next incarnation.<\/p>\n<p>The South Bend Tribune <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/southbendtribune.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20060804\/News01\/608040368\">reports<\/a> the building has been purchased by Lester L. Sumrall, grandson of the founder of LeSEA Christian broadcast network, and is being prepped for use as a &#8220;cultural events center with a Christian focus.&#8221; With any luck, the theater will become as successful as the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.worldpulsefestival.com\">World Pulse Festival<\/a>, a LeSEA sponsored event.
