He proposes much of the recent spike in the number of foreclosures can be attributed to the recent overhaul in the method used to assess property taxes.<\/p>\n<p>He writes that Karen Roush, an area agent who deals with many foreclosures, believes about half of the area\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s foreclosures are investor-owned properties that landlords simply walked away from when they became unprofitable.<\/p>\n<p>Semmler includes the response of several city officials, who claim the property taxes will be adjusted even as they restate the benefits of shifting the tax burden away from businesses.
