However, after the company parked its automobile division in 1966, the buildings remained. Recently, South Bend began to redevelop the site of Studebaker&#8217;s 39 acre stamping plant, &#8220;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.southbendin.gov\/2006-03-01-01.asp\">the single largest Brownfield Reclamation project in Indiana<\/a>.&#8221; The area was unusable for years, but is now on its way towards new light industrial development and will be the home of the city bus service&#8217;s administrative headquarters and bus depot.<\/p>\n<p>South Bend is renewing itself with major projects like the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bendareablog\/\">Studebaker demolition<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.realst8.com\/staging\/9756\/?p=99\">Downtown Condos<\/a>, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sbnair.com\/Airport\/FutureDev.php\">expansion at the airport<\/a>.
